Meeting Wednesday at Electronics International
Come join us and be a part of this months meeting. Electronics International will be hosting the meeting and will provide pizza and drinks. We will meet at 6pm and the formal part of the meeting and presentation will start at 6:30pm. See you there. EI is located at the north end of Bend Airport. If you need to see a map, please check out the meetings page.
Thanks to Precise Flight
Last months meeting was held at the Ellsberg hangar and we had a great presentation by Joe Wanko of Precise Flight. Joe talked a bit about the companies 30 history and showcased their product line. Precise Flight provides aircraft systems and components such as speed brakes, oxygen systems, HID landing lights and Pulse lights. Thank you Joe for a great presentation!
Come see an RV12
Join us on February 9th for our next monthly meeting. We will travel to Sun River for an in depth look at an RV12 project. Lloyd Swenson has graciously offer to host our meeting and show off his fast progress on the RV12 he recently started building. We will have pizza and drinks at 6pm and start our meeting at 6:30pm. See you there!
Airport Plan
Gary Judd, Bend AirportManager, and Matt Rogers, an engineer from Century West, provided a great presentation during our January meeting. It was helpful and enlightening to see the planning process for the airport. We hope to have them back for another discussion in early summer at which time they will be open to feedback on the basic plan and options. Thanks again Gary and Matt!
Merry Christmas
What a fun party last night!
It was a great turn-out. We had nearly 20 of us around a big family-style table and had plenty of great food. Thanks to everyone who brought great food, drinks and desserts.
From the entire club, we want to wish everyone a Merry Christmas and Happy New Year. We look forward to seeing everyone at our next meeting on January 12th!
Christmas Party
The Christmas Party will happen on December 8th, at our normal chapter meeting time and place. We will start at 6pm at the Ellsberg Hangar. All are welcome, so please bring your spouse or loved ones. To keep things flexible and simple, the event will be a “Pot Luck”. Please bring one of your favorite family dishes to share.

Spirited Debate
At our November meeting, Jeff Witwer and John Lynch, from the Aviation Committee for Economic Development Central Oregon (EDCO) gave us an overview of a proposal to help bring additional aviation business to the Bend area. To do this, they are looking at the possibility of using a portion of Juniper North MOA for testing of unmanned airplanes. They reviewed the proposal with our chapter to get more feedback and perspective from local pilots. It was a good discussion and the somewhat spirited debate that followed gave everyone multiple viewpoints to consider. I’m confident EDCO will consider the feedback provided and consider how best to maintain the current pilots freedoms and bring business to the area. For more information, please contact Jeff Witwer of our Chapter.
Jeff and John, thank you for your time and presentation!
Upcoming Elections – Help Serve!
Yes, its that time of year again for our chapter elections.
As many of you know, there is a lot of hard work and dedication to keep our club running smoothly. The volunteering over the years has been superb and is not limited to the officer and board positions. We also have several people who help out each and every month on things like setting up the table and chairs for the meetings, bringing the pizza and drinks, keeping you informed with a first class newsletter etc. To ensure the club continues to be a success and a place where we can join together and share our passion for aviation, we need your help!
Please start to think about how you’d like to serve during 2011. Take a look at the volunteer duties page to see which position(s) might fit your personality and skill set best and let an officer know if you’re willing to put your name in for the upcoming elections at the November meeting.
Thanks in Advance!
